Garlic consumption and colorectal cancer risk in US adults: a large prospective cohort study

Frequent ingestion of garlic may be beneficial for the prevention of colorectal cancer.

​This study was undertaken to confirm the protective effect of dietary intake of garlic against colorectal cancer. Researchers examined the eating habits and health of nearly 60,000 US adults over a 12-year period. During the course of the study, a total of 782 cases of colorectal were recorded among the participants. 

Researchers noticed that garlic consumers had better chances of fending off colorectal cancer. The data from this study showed that avid consumption of garlic may help foil the occurrence of colorectal cancer in men and women.
