Causal relationship of sugar-sweetened and sweet beverages with colorectal cancer: a Mendelian randomization study

Frequent intake of sugar-sweetened beverages may promote the development of colon cancer.

​This study clarified the role of regular drinking of sugary beverages in the development of colorectal cancer. Data from the FinnGen and UK Biobank databases were utilized for this study. 

Generous consumers of sugar-sweetened beverages were found to have high chances of developing colon cancer. This study is one of the many studies affirming the cancer-inducing effects of sugary beverages on the colon.
