A Case-Control Study Examining the Association of Fiber, Fruit, and Vegetable Intake and the Risk of Colorectal Cancer in a Palestinian Population

​Creating more space for fiber-containing foods, such as fruits and vegetables, in our plates may help prune down our risk of having colorectal cancer.

​This research work assessed the dietary fiber-colorectal cancer prevention hypothesis in a study population comprising of 118 colorectal cancer patients and 410 Palestinian men and women without a history of the disease. Researchers studied submitted dietary questionnaires of all the participants. 

Researchers found out that colorectal cancer occurred at a low rate among consistent consumers of fiber-rich foods, such as fruits and vegetables. This study emphasizes the crucial role of high fiber diets in the prevention of colorectal cancer.
