Trajectories of alcohol consumption during life and the risk of developing breast cancer

Regular drinking of alcoholic beverages may fuel the development of breast cancer in women.

The purpose of this study was to determine the risk of breast cancer in women based on the level of alcohol consumption. Researchers compared the alcohol drinking habits of 1,278 women diagnosed with breast cancer with another group 1,278 females without the disease.

Researchers noted that the greater the amount of alcohol consumed by a woman during her lifetime, the higher her chances of developing breast cancer. The data from this study support the hypothesis that alcohol intake may make a woman highly susceptible to breast cancer.
