Phyto-oestrogen intake and breast cancer risk in South Asian women in England: findings from a population-based case-control study

Consistent consumption of foods loaded with phytoestrogens may help guard against the development of breast cancer in women.

This study investigated how high dietary exposure to phytoestrogens affects a woman's risk of developing breast cancer. Researchers compared the frequency of consumption of phytoestrogen-rich foods among 240 women diagnosed with breast cancer and 477 women without a history of the disease.

Researchers discovered that the risk of a woman having breast cancer was low with increased intake of foods high in phytoestrogens. The data from this study suggest that women who want to improve their chances of preventing breast cancer should imbibe the habit of consuming phytoestrogen-rich foods regularly.
