Association between ultra-processed foods and risk of cancer: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Generous intake of ultra-processed foods may favor the development of different types of cancer, including colorectal, breast, and prostate cancer.

​This study analyzed data from 13 scientific publications that investigated whether the ingestion of ultra-processed foods is linked to the development of cancer. More than 600,000 persons participated in these studies. 

Researchers noted that the odds of suffering from certain types of cancer, including prostate, breast, and colorectal cancer, were stacked against ultra-processed food eaters. The results of this study showed that fondness for ultra-processed foods may set an individual on the path to acquiring prostate, breast, and colorectal cancer.
