Generous intake of alcoholic beverages, especially liquor or spirits, may stack the odds of developing bladder cancer against men.

This study determined whether habitual drinking of alcohol is tied to higher risk of bladder cancer using a meta-analytic approach. Researchers utilized data from 9 studies that examined more than 1.9 million men and women.

Researchers noticed a 9% jump in bladder cancer risk among participants, especially men, who increased their rate of consumption of alcoholic beverages, in particular liquor or spirits, by 1 drink per day.
