Association Between Sugar-Sweetened Beverage Intake and Mortality Risk in Women: The California Teachers Study

Generous consumption of caloric soft drinks may increase a woman's likelihood of suffering from deaths arising from cancer and other chronic diseases.

This study determined the correlation between fondness for soft drinks and a woman's chances of dying prematurely. Researchers tracked the dietary and death records of more than 100,000 US women over a 20-year period.

Researchers noticed that a high percentage of deaths from cancer and other causes were recorded among women who consumed at least 7 servings of caloric soft drinks per week. This study pointed out that heavy ingestion of caloric soft drinks may shorten the lifespan of a woman.
