Association between the dual use of electronic and conventional cigarettes and NAFLD status in Korean men

Usage of both combustible and electronic cigarettes may give rise to the development non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).

This study looked at the incidence of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) among men who are smokers of electronic and combustible (conventional) cigarettes. Researchers assessed the cigarette smoking habits and the presence of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease among thousands of Korean men.

Researchers found out that smoking of only conventional cigarettes and both electronic and conventional cigarettes elevated the risk of developing non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. This study demonstrated that adopting the habit of using electronic and combustible cigarettes may promote the onset of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.
