Myocardial infarction and alcohol consumption: A case-control study.

Binge drinkers may be highly prone to suffer from myocardial infarction.

This study investigated the link between alcohol drinking and the occurrence of myocardial infarction. Researchers examined the alcohol intake levels of 187 patients newly diagnosed with myocardial infarction and 187 healthy individuals.

Researchers discovered that binge drinkers had a 2-fold increase in the risk of myocardial infarction compared to non-drinkers. The findings of this study reveal that binge drinking may hasten the onset of myocardial infarction.
