Alcohol Drinking and the Risk of Colorectal Adenoma: A Dose-Response Meta-Analysis

Colorectal adenomas are more likely to occur among individuals who consumed more than 2 drinks per day.

This meta-analysis examined whether alcohol consumption favors the development of colorectal adenomas. Researchers compiled data extracted from 26,145 patients with colorectal adenomas who participated in 30 studies.

Researchers noted that regular consumption of additional 2 drinks per day heightened the risk of developing colorectal adenomas. This study points out that high intake of alcohol may facilitate the onset of colorectal adenomas, thereby increasing an individual's risk of developing colorectal cancer.
