Statins and risk of cataracts: A systematic review and meta-analysis of observational studies.

A surge in the risk of acquiring cataracts is associated with the use of statin drugs.

This meta-analysis was undertaken to assess the risk of cataract associated with the use of statins. Researchers compiled data obtained from 21 published studies.

Researchers discovered that statin users had greater chances of developing cataracts than non-users of this drug. This study suggests that the odds of suffering from cataracts may be stacked against users of statin medications.
