Anti-hypertensive drugs and skin cancer risk: a review of the literature and meta-analysis.

A surge in skin cancer risk is associated with the use of antihypertensive drugs belong to the class of calcium channel blockers and beta blockers.

​This meta-analysis examined the risk of skin cancer in individuals on antihypertensive medications. Researchers analyzed data drawn out from 19 studies. 

Data analysis revealed that compared to non-users, users of antihypertensive drugs belonging to the class of calcium channel blockers (CCBs) and beta-blockers were more likely to come down with skin cancer. This study adds to the growing body of evidence that persons taking antihypertensive medications may be highly vulnerable to skin cancer.
