Adequate consumption of fiber-rich foods, such as fruits, cereals, and legumes, may help guard against the onset of metabolic syndrome.

This study comprehensively assessed if sticking to a high fiber diet is beneficial for the prevention of metabolic syndrome. Researchers gathered information about the nutrition and health of 2,457 Iranian men and women recruited from the Tehran Lipid and Glucose Study. 

Researchers noticed that the risk of metabolic syndrome plummeted with increasing intake of fiber from food sources, such as cereals, fruits, and legumes. This study concluded that adding more fiber to our diet may shield us from metabolic syndrome.
