Loading our plates with generous amounts of red and processed meats may trigger the development of different forms of cancer, including lung, colorectal, breast, liver, and endometrial cancer.

This meta-analysis was conducted to ascertain whether regular eating of red and processed meats can predispose an individual to cancer. Researchers reviewed the findings of 158 scientific publications on the subject. 

Researchers found increased incidence of different types of cancer, including breast, colorectal, lung, liver, endometrial, and kidney cancer, among high consumers of red and processed meat. Evidence from this study suggest that sticking to a diet rich in red and processed meat may edge an individual closer to a diagnosis of cancer.
