High dietary ingestion of fiber may help guard against the development of cancers in the head and neck region.

‚ÄčThis study was carried out to confirm the protective effect of high fiber diet against cancers of the head and neck region, such as oral, layngeal, and nasopharyngeal cancer. Researchers tracked the diets and rate of occurrence of head and neck cancers among 101,700 men and women who participated in the Prostate Lung Colorectal and Ovarian (PLCO) cancer screening trial. 

Researchers noted that generous intake of fiber-rich foods lessened the risk of acquiring head and neck cancers (HNC). This study highlights the importance of fiber-packed foods in the prevention of cancers in the head and neck region.
