Generous intake of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains may help curb the development of pancreatic cancer.

This study investigated the risk of pancreatic cancer present in consumers of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. A total of 384 patients with pancreatic cancer and 983 healthy persons volunteered for this study and provided information about their dietary habits via questionnaires.

Researchers found out the risk of pancreatic cancer plummeted with increase in the frequency of consumption of certain fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, including citrus, melon, berries, tomatoes, and dark green vegetables. "We provide evidence that lower consumption of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and fiber is associated with having pancreatic cancer," the authors concluded.
