The association between dietary sodium intake and obesity in adults by sodium intake assessment methods: a review of systematic reviews and re-meta-analysis

Diets that encourage the consumption of salty foods may promote weight gain and obesity in men and women.

This meta-analysis examined whether higher intake of salty foods is tied to the development of obesity. Researchers studied the findings of 54 scientific publications on the subject. 

Researchers found a high proportion of obesity among followers of high salt diet. This meta-analysis highlighted the role salty foods play in the development of obesity.
