Generous consumption of vegetables may help guard against the occurrence of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women.

​This study investigated the hypothesis that diets rich in vegetables can protect postmenopausal women against osteoporosis. A total of 1,903 Chinese women participated this study and were assessed for their dietary choices and incidence of osteoporosis. 

Researchers discovered that women on high vegetable diets were more likely to stay osteoporosis-free than their counterparts who ate little or none of these plant foods. The results of this study show that frequent intake of vegetables may help curb the development of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women.
