Habitual consumption of fruits and vegetables may significantly cut down coronary heart disease risk.

This study evaluated the association between dietary intake of fruits and vegetables and the occurrence of coronary heart disease (CHD). Researchers systematically reviewed data extracted from 9 published studies on the subject. They found a significant protective association between high fruit and vegetable consumption and coronary heart disease. The results of this study reveal that the risk of coronary heart disease may decrease with increase in the consumption rate of fruits and vegetables.
