Increased alcohol-related oesophageal cancer mortality rates in Japanese men

Regular drinking of alcohol may tilt the odds of dying from esophageal cancer against men.

This research work looked at esophageal cancer mortality rate in relation to alcohol usage in Japanese men. Researchers charted alcohol consumption against deaths attributed to esophageal cancer in a cohort of Japanese men. 

Researchers found a spike in the number of deaths from esophageal cancer among men who drank alcohol. This study revealed that alcohol intake may be a significant contributor to the rise in mortality from esophageal cancer among Japanese men.
