Meat lovers may be highly prone to develop colorectal polyps.

This research work investigated the meat-colorectal polyp connection hypothesis. Researchers compared meat consumption frequency with colorectal polyp diagnosis rates in a study population comprising of over 6,000 Chinese men and women.

Researchers noted that devout consumers of different types of meat, including poultry, seafoods, red meat and processed meats, tend to have high probability of developing colorectal polyps. This 2022 study of Chinese men and women documented that diets that promote the ingestion of meats may trigger the formation of polyps in the colon and rectum.
