Adequate intake of fiber-rich foods may help guard against the development of breast cancer in women, especially in postmenopausal women.
This study examined the correlation between dietary fiber intake and breast cancer risk. Researchers conducted a meticulous meta-analysis on data extracted from 24 epidemiological studies.The team of investigators found out that high consumption of dietary fiber decreased the odds of developing breast cancer, particularly in postmenopausal women, by 12%. In addition, the consumption of an additional 10g of dietary fiber per day was found to lower breast cancer risk further by 4%. The findings of this meta-analysis reveal that regular consumers of high fiber diets are less prone to develop breast cancer.
