Which foods may be addictive? The roles of processing, fat content, and glycemic load.
Frequent consumption of processed foods with high glycemic and fat content may increase the likelihood of developing addictive-like eating behaviors.
This study evaluated the foods that promote addictive-like eating behaviors. Researchers analyzed the responses of 504 participants to the Yale Food Addition Scale and the Forced Choice Task questionnaires. They observed that processed foods with high glycemic load and fat content promote addictive-like eating behaviors. The findings of this study show that food addiction is associated with highly processed fatty foods with high glycemic load.
