Impact of Cannabis Use on the Development of Psychotic Disorders.

The odds of developing psychotic disorders may be stacked against users of cannabis and its derivatives, such as synthetic cannabinoids and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

This study examined how the intake of cannabis influences the risk of developing psychotic disorders. A group of US researchers looked at data obtained from both experimental and case studies.

The research team noted that the use of cannabis and its derivatives, such as synthetic cannabinoids and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), induced the development of psychotic disorders in adolescents and other vulnerable persons. The findings of this study reveal that users of cannabis and its derivatives may be at risk of acquiring psychotic disorders.
