Androgen deprivation therapy for prostate cancer and dementia risk: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

The likelihood of suffering from dementia may be high in prostate cancer patients placed on androgen deprivation therapy.

This study examined how the use of androgen deprivation drugs affects a prostate cancer patient's odds of acquiring dementia. Researchers reviewed 15 studies that analyzed the association between the intake of androgen deprivation drugs and the occurrence of dementia.

Researchers noticed a surge in the risk of dementia in prostate cancer patients treated with androgen deprivation drugs. The results of this study suggest that the use of androgen deprivation therapy may increase the incidence of dementia in patients with prostate cancer.
