Strict adherence to a plant-based diet may help improve cognitive function in elderly men and women.

This study compared cognitive performance between consumers and non-consumers of plant foods. More than 2,000 Norwegian men and women aged 70-74 years were recruited for this study, provided dietary information, and underwent extensive cognitive testing.

Researchers noticed that followers of a plant-based diet had better cognitive test results than their counterparts who ate little or none of these foods. This study emphasized the important role plant foods play in fighting off cognitive decline in the elderly.
