The effect of alcohol on the risk of lung cancer in Uruguay.

High consumers of alcohol may be highly liable to suffer from lung cancer.

​The aim of this study was to assess whether alcohol consumption favors the development of lung cancer. The alcohol drinking habits and lung cancer diagnosis status of 677 Uruguayan men were obtained through interviews and hospital records respectively. 

Researchers noted that habitual drinking of alcohol, including beer, resulted in high likelihood of acquiring lung cancer. This study adds to the growing body of literature describing a strong connection between alcohol intake and increased lung cancer risk.
