Stroke is less likely to occur in individuals adhering to a diet high in whole grains.

This study investigated the correlation between dietary ingestion of diets rich in whole grains and the incidence of stroke by meta-analysis. Six prospective cohort studies that examined 249,122 subjects and 1635 cases of stroke were included in this meta-analysis. Researchers observed that regular consumers of high whole grain diets had lower risk of suffering from stroke than rare- or non-consumers of whole grains. The results of this study indicate that increased intake of whole grains may play a vital role in protecting individuals from stroke.
