Strict adherence to a vegetarian diet may help to fight off depression.

This research work studied the incidence of depression among vegetarians and non-vegetarians. Researchers charted dietary patterns against the occurrence of depressive symptoms among 3,571 Taiwanese vegetarians and 7,006 non-vegetarians.

Researchers observed that individuals in the vegetarian group were less likely to experience depression than their colleagues in the non-vegetarian group. Evidence from this study suggest that individuals who want to reduce their chances of suffering from depression should adopt a vegetarian diet.
