Association of plant-based dietary patterns with the risk of osteoporosis in community-dwelling adults over 60 years: a cross-sectional study
Strict adherence to healthy plant foods can boost the level of protection older women and men can enjoy against osteoporosis.
This study compared dietary choices with the frequency of occurrence of osteoporosis in older adults. Researchers studied 9,613 Chinese men and women with regards to their eating habits and incidence of osteoporosis.
Researchers found out that compared to consumers of unhealthy plant and animal foods, followers of diets favoring the ingestion of healthy plant foods had significantly reduced risk of developing osteoporosis. This study concluded that high compliance with a diet heavy on healthy plant foods could hinder osteoporosis from occurring in older men and women.
