Genetically Predicted Cigarette Smoking in Relation to Risk of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
Cigarette smoking may increase a woman's odds of developing polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).
This study investigated the cigarette smoking-polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) connection hypothesis. More than 4,000 patients with polycystic ovary syndrome and 20,000 women free from the condition enrolled for this study.
Researchers noticed that cigarette smoking drove up a woman's risk of having polycystic ovary disease. This study demonstrated that women who are cigarette smokers are liable to suffer from polycystic ovary syndrome.
