Nut consumption and the risk of coronary artery disease: a dose response meta-analysis of 13 prospective studies.

Regular consumers of nuts are less prone to develop coronary artery disease.

This study examined the effect of high dietary ingestion of nuts on coronary artery disease (CAD) risk. Researchers conducted a meticulous meta-analysis on data extracted from 13 prospective studies.

Researchers observed a low prevalence of coronary artery disease among regular consumers of diets rich in nuts. Consistent consumption of one serving of nuts per week was found to decrease the odds of developing coronary artery disease by 5%. The findings of this meta-analysis show that a decline in coronary artery disease risk was associated with generous intake of nuts.
