Adhering to a diet low on salt can help to transform a high blood pressure number to a healthy one.

This study was conducted to determine how long-term reduction in salt intake affects the odds of suffering from high blood pressure. A group of British researchers performed a meta-analysis on data obtained from 34 randomized controlled trials involving more than 3,000 participants.

The team of scientists found out that a significant drop in blood pressure was associated with a modest reduction of salt intake for at least 4 weeks in both normotensive and hypertensive individuals. The authors concluded that slashing salt intake to 3 grams per day may help to reduce the incidence of high blood pressure in the general population.
