Habitual intake of dairy milk may put a woman at high risk of developing breast cancer.

This study explored the association between the consumption of soy and dairy products and the probability of having breast cancer. Researchers followed the diets of 52,795 North American women for 7.9 years. During the course of the study, 1,057 women developed breast cancer.

Researchers found high rates of breast cancer diagnosis among regular consumers of dairy milk. In contrast, soy milk consumers were noted to have better chances of avoiding breast cancer in this study. The data from this study indicate that fondness for dairy milk may significantly increase a woman's odds of acquiring breast cancer.
