Light, moderate, and heavy consumers of alcohol may have a high probability of developing hypertension.

​This study investigated the association between the use of alcohol and the prevalence of hypertension in Korean population. Alcohol consumption habits and incidence of hypertension were assessed using questionnaires and hospital records. 

Researchers found high rates of hypertension among low, moderate, and heavy consumers of alcohol compared to non-drinkers. The data from this study indicate that alcohol intake may make an individual more likely to develop hypertension.
