This meta-analysis comprehensively examined if physical activity is beneficial for the prevention of cognitive decline and dementia in older adults. Researchers reviewed 47 studies that focused on the relationship between physical activity and the odds of cognitive decline and dementia occurring in elderly men and women.

Researchers found out that the higher the frequency and intensity of physical activity engaged by participants, the better protected they are from cognitive decline and dementia. This study pointed out that being physically active may help to fight off cognitive decline and dementia in older adults.
