The tendency to experience symptoms of obstructive sleep apnea may heighten with fondness for smoking and coffee drinking.

This research work studied the inter-relationship between smoking, alcohol use, and coffee intake and the possibility of suffering from obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Researchers studied data obtained from the Genome-Wide Association Study (GWAS).

Researchers discovered that obstructive sleep apnea was more prevalent in smokers and coffee consumers than among never smokers and non-drinkers of coffee in the study population. The data from this study showed that smoking and coffee consumption may trigger the onset of obstructive sleep apnea in men and women.
