Restaurant owner, Judy Patti, prepared her meals the way most Americans do, using a vast selection of meat, dairy, eggs and oil. She admits her poor dietary choices were the root cause of her illness.  Judy was 60 pounds overweight, had high blood pressure, and had already undergone two coronary bypass surgeries in the past.  Her left anterior descending artery (LAD) was 97% clogged. This particular artery is known as the "widow maker" because it provides most of the blood flow for the left ventricle. Because the left ventricle propels oxygenated blood to the rest of the body through the aorta, blockage of the LAD artery is associated with a higher rate of mortality.

Judy discovered the work of Dr. John McDougall, and purchased his book. She challenged herself to stick to his program for 30 days. After 30 days, she not only lost 15-17 pounds, she reduced her prescription medications in half, which were costing her $800 a month.  After several months, Judy lost 60 pounds without feeling hungry or deprived, she's medication free, and feels good that she's protecting herself from having any future heart complications.

Judy attended Dr. McDougall's 3-day weekend program, where she learned in-depth the benefits of a starch-based diet.  She credits her remarkable recovery to her new dietary lifestyle, and hopes that more people will learn how the meat and dairy industry profit from advertising products which promote disease.
