Preference for sugared beverages may up asthma risk in children and adolescents.
This study investigated the link between sugary beverage intake and asthma development in children and adolescents. The study population included nearly 10,000 participants aged 2-17 years who volunteered dietary and health information.
Researchers discovered that the more the amounts of sugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs) consumed by children and adolescents, the higher their risk of suffering from asthma. This study provides additional evidence that fondness for sugary beverages may edge children and adolescents closer to a diagnosis of asthma.
