This study assessed how the rate of consumption of legumes affects the incidence of hypertension in men and women. Researchers monitored the dietary preferences and regularly measured the blood pressure of 7,522 European men and women over a 3-year period.
Researchers discovered that daily intake of 55-70 grams of legumes decrease a participant's risk of having hypertension by as much as 43%. This study affirmed that a high legume diet is a viable dietary weapon that can be deployed to fight off hypertension.
