Soy product consumption and type 2 diabetes among adults in Beijing, China

Indulgence in soy foods may favor impaired fasting glucose and type 2 diabetes prevention.

This study clarified the association between the frequency of soy food intake and the chances of suffering from impaired fasting glucose and receiving a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes (T2DM). Researchers matched the level of consumption of soy foods with the rate of occurrence of impaired fasting glucose and type 2 diabetes among 3,314 Chinese men and women within the age bracket of 18-79 years.

Researchers discovered that the likelihood of experiencing impaired fasting glucose and having type 2 diabetes was low among generous consumers of soy foods. This study suggested that eating a high soy food diet may play a significant role in keeping impaired fasting glucose and type 2 diabetes at bay.
