Schizophrenia is a common cause of psychosis—a severe mental disorder characterized by a disconnection of thoughts and emotions from reality. This study investigated the cannabis-schizophrenia hypothesis. Researchers examined data and evidence obtained from eligible studies. 

Researchers noted that frequent users of cannabis were highly likely to experience schizophrenia-induced psychosis. This study documented a harmful association between habitual use of cannabis and the risk of suffering from schizophrenia
