Polyphenol consumption and Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease risk in adults

Upping our frequency of consumption of polyphenols from food sources may help shield us from having non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).

This study determined the risk of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) based on dietary exposure to polyphenols. Researchers utilized dietary and health data obtained from more than 10,000 Iranian men and women.

Researchers noted that the more the amounts of polyphenol-containing foods participants consumed, the better protected they are from non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. This study emphasized the important role polyphenol-rich foods play in the prevention of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.
