Association between dietary phytochemical index and risk of benign prostatic hyperplasia: a case-control study
Adequate consumption of phytochemicals from food sources may help guard against the occurrence of benign prostatic hyperplasia in men.
This study examined the intake of phytochemical-rich foods in relation to the subsequent development of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in men. Researchers compared the phytochemical contents of the diets consumed by 112 adult males suffering from benign prostatic hyperplasia and another 112 men without this condition.
Researchers noticed that benign prostatic hyperplasia was less likely to affect men with high rate of consumption of phytochemical-containing foods. This study pointed out that promoting the ingestion of foods packed with phytochemicals may favor the prevention of benign prostatic hyperplasia in men.
