Water intake and bladder cancer risk in Los Angeles County.

Daily intake of 6 or more glasses of water may help to fend off bladder cancer.

​This study examined how regular drinking of water influenced the risk of developing bladder cancer. Researchers reviewed data on the water drinking habits of 1,586 bladder cancer patients and 1,586 healthy persons recruited from the Los Angeles Bladder Cancer Case-Control Study. 

Researchers found low incidence of bladder cancer among participants who drank 6 or more glasses of water per day. The results of this study highlight the importance of adequate intake of water in the prevention of bladder cancer.
