Type 2 diabetes is less likely to occur in individuals who are regular consumers of water.

​This study examined the effect of regular drinking of plain water on type 2 diabetes development risk. A team of researchers from the Center of Exercise, Nutrition, and Health Sciences, University of Bristol, United Kingdom, looked at data on the water consumption rate of 138 adults and also evaluated the type 2 diabetes hazard ratio of each participant in this study. They found out subjects who regularly consumed large quantities of water had slim chances of developing type 2 diabetes. The results of this study indicate that low type 2 diabetes risk is associated with high intake of plain water.
