The probability of developing and dying from cancer and ischemic heart disease is low in vegetarians.

​The objective of this meta-analysis was to evaluate the association between the consumption of vegetarian diets and the tendency to develop and die from cancer and ischemic heart disease (IHD). Data from 10 studies were analyzed for this meta-analysis. 

Data analysis revealed that in comparison with non vegetarians, vegetarians had low cancer and ischemic heart disease (IHD) development and mortality risk. The results of this study show that adherence to a vegetarian diet may help curb the occurrence of cancer and ischemic heart diseases as well as deaths from these ailments.
