Vegetables and Fruits and Risk of Stomach Cancer

Diets rich in raw vegetables, such as cabbage, garlic, carrots, and broccoli, may help fight off stomach cancer.

This study examined whether likeness for fruits and vegetables may be beneficial in the prevention of gastric (stomach) cancer. Researchers tracked the fruit and vegetable consumption rates among 1,137 men and women from Lithuania and 379 patients with gastric cancer.

Researchers noticed that the likelihood of receiving a diagnosis of stomach cancer was low among high consumers of raw vegetables, such as cabbage, garlic, carrots, and broccoli. Evidence from this study indicate that high vegetable diet may exert a protective effect against gastric cancer.
