Frequent consumption of generous portions and different types of vegetables may brighten an individual's chances of evading coronary heart disease.

​This study looked at the correlation between the frequency, quantity, and variety of vegetable consumption and the prevalence of coronary heart disease (CHD) among American men and women. Researchers tracked the diets and rate of occurrence of coronary heart disease over a 16-year period in a study population comprising of more than 38,000 American adults. 

Researchers found out that the greater the amount and variety of vegetables consumed, the lower the likelihood of developing coronary heart disease and other cardiovascular ailments. This study demonstrated that diets that encourage the consumption of higher quantities and different types of vegetables may to keep coronary heart disease at bay.
